The Valley of Flowers trek is one of India’s most beautiful and popular trekking destinations, known for its stunning alpine flora, snow-clad mountains, and serene landscapes. in uttarakhand Himalayas 2025 Valley Of Flowers Trek is extremely vast, furnished with never-ending meadows and was declared a national park in 1982. Now it is a World Heritage Site. The altitude is – 12140 feet If you didn’t know It is home to endangered species and rare animals. From the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk bear, and brown bear to red fox and blue sheep and even birds, you will also find high-altitude birds like the Himalayan Monal Pheasant. It is the most popular Monson Trek in Uttarakhand Himalayas. The valley was first discovered accidentally by a group of mountaineers in 1931 who were returning from an expedition to Mount Kamet. Frank Smythe, Eric Shipton and RL Holdsworth were a part of this team. In 1980, Valley of Flowers was declared a national park and in 2000, Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve added it as the second core zone. It now comes under UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) programme.There are about 500 varieties of flowers that are found here and some of them even have medicinal properties. Since a number of plant species are considered threatened, any kind of animal grazing is not allowed in this region. When on the trek, you’ll even get to visit the memorial grave of Joan Margaret. The visit to Hemkund Sahib i.e. the highest religious place covered in the itinerary is difficult but rewarding and if you happen to have an extra day, you can even visit Badrinath or explore Rishikesh on your last day. The valley not only is welcoming you with flowers but on the way get to witness a huge gorge and small streams flowing by. After hours of laborious trekking, your heart will skip a beat, and the enthusiasm is electrifying” Boom” there goes the vast endless drop-dead gorgeous, exquisite valley. World’s Highest Sikh Temple in Valley Of Flowers Trek

Further, the climb to Govindghat and Hemkund Sahib Ji is a tough and steep one. But, the thrilling climb and adventure will surely give you chills! During your trek, explore the World’s highest Gurudwara “Hemkund Sahib Ji” which lies at a height of 4400 Meter In addition to its beauty just behind the Gurudwara lies a lake that remains frozen for 6 months. Govind Singh Ji the 10th Guru of the Sikh faith meditated on the bank of this lake during ancient times. Therefore, the clear Hemkund Lake is serene and peaceful with the Brahma Kamals growing in abundance on the banks. You wouldn’t be surprised to know that there are few treks like Valley of Flowers which offer some splendorous Hiking routes ie Hemkund Sahib. It is also known as the Hemkund Sahib Ji Valley which runs parallel 10 km south.

Shri Hemkund Sahib also known as Hum Hemkunt) This is a place of faith and belief where you will feel peace of mind, which today formally known as Gurdwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji, this place There is a Sikh Gurdwara in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India, where people come for their worship and faith and worship wholeheartedly and is a place of pilgrimage. This Gurdwara is dedicated to the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh (1666–1708), and the place finds mention in the Dasam Granth, directed by Guruji himself, where mythological components are present in the work. According to the Survey of India, situated at an altitude of 4,160 meters in the Himalayas, is a glacial lake setting surrounded by seven Himalayan mountain peaks, each adorned with a Nishan Sahib on its rock. It is approached from Govindghat on the Badrinath Highway. It is at a distance of about 19 kms from Govindghat, the nearest main town is Joshimath. The elevation of the lake at Hemkund is about 4,160 m.

Age Requirement:

Minimum 9 years

First-timers are welcome, though prior trekking experience is preferred. Good fitness is a must.

Fitness Criteria:

The Trekker should have sufficient stamina to cover 5 km of distance by jogging in 35 minutes without stress or 10 km of distance in 80 minutes without stress

If the trekker prefers cycling he/ she should be able to cycle 10 km of distance in 30 minutes.

If the trekker wants to carry a backpack then he/she should be able to carry a 10-12 kg backpack. If opt Off-load option then the trekker should be able to carry a 3-5 kg backpack.

If a trekker's BMI is more or less than the normal range (18-29), please consult our Trek Coordinator before booking.

  • Duration: 8-9 hours
  • Distance: 250 km
  • Transport will be arranged from Rishikesh at 6:00 am.
  • The journey from Rishikesh to Pipalkoti offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape. En route, you will pass through major confluences like Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag, where sacred rivers merge. Enjoy the serene beauty of the Alaknanda River flowing alongside the road. Overnight stay at Pipalkoti.
  • Route: Pipalkoti – Govindghat – Pulna – Ghangaria
  • Duration: 6-7 hours
  • Distance: 35 km (Drive) + 10 km (Trek)
  • After breakfast, drive to Govindghat and start the trek from Pulna to Ghangaria. The trail goes through lush green valleys and captivating mountain views. Reach Ghangaria by evening and check into your guesthouse.
  • Route: Ghangaria – Valley of Flowers – Ghangaria
  • Duration: 6-7 hours
  • Distance: 8 km (Trek)
  • Visit the mesmerizing Valley of Flowers, known for its vibrant alpine flowers and stunning landscapes. Spend the day exploring the valley, capturing its beauty, and soaking in the tranquility. Trek back to Ghangaria in the evening.
  • Route: Ghangaria – Hemkund Sahib – Ghangaria
  • Duration: 7-8 hours
  • Distance: 12 km (Trek)
  • Start early to trek to Hemkund Sahib, a revered Sikh pilgrimage site situated at an altitude of 4,329 meters. The trail is steep and challenging, but the stunning lake and serene surroundings make it worth the effort. Return to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.
  • Route: Ghangaria – Govindghat – Pipalkoti
  • Duration: 6-7 hours
  • Distance: 10 km (Trek) + 35 km (Drive)
  • Trek back to Govindghat and drive to Pipalkoti. Enjoy the scenic landscapes during the journey and relax at Pipalkoti.
  • Route: Pipalkoti – Karnaprayag – Rudraprayag – Devprayag – Rishikesh
  • Duration: 8-9 hours
  • Distance: 250 km
  • Drive back to Rishikesh from pipalkoti after breakfast and fond memories of the trek and mesmerizing views. Trip ends upon arrival in Rishikesh.
